The need....

was established by David Jones early January 2004 with a
Grand opening on July 1, 2004. Basically I saw a need for
a focussed Edmonton based hosting provider that gave residents
of Edmonton access to very affordable, high quality web
hosting packed with excellent features.
The
affordability....
Basically
EdmontonHOST.com
was built from the ToowombaHost.com concept, as if I was
the client and what I would be expecting in a web hosting
provider. The hosting plans needed to be very affordable
and full of useful features, usually only found in more
expensive plans by other hosting providers.
The experience....

David's parent company ( I. T. Doctor www.itdoctor.ca
) has been in operation since November 2001 and currently
provides Domain Registration, Networking and Computer
support to a variety of Canadian companies. EdmontonHOST.com
is a local product, specifically tailored to the needs
of the Edmonton hosting market. Your domains are hosted
on state of the art servers in one of the world's
best datacenters in the USA. This combination of high
quality servers and excellent datacenter connectivity,
gives your sites the edge.

The technology....
Our connections to
multiple backbone providers, and
peering with many carriers on a regional and
international basis, allows us to easily reach
remote networks even in the case where a NAP may
be unhealthy, or when a specific backbone
connection is down. It also allows us to make
intelligent routing decisions; for example, if
we are trying to reach a remote network which is
on the Sprint network, there's no reason to send
it out to UUNET first. By placing our core nodes
at places like Equinix and Telehouse, we are
guaranteed a level of competent
service. All of our core nodes employ SONET
networks, which essentially provides a
dual-redundant, counter-rotating ring
technology, and in the event of a fiber cut, the
SONET will automatically heal itself. We also
divide our circuits among several
telecommunications providers, such as Verizon,
MFS/Worldcom, and Adelphia.
Honesty and
integrity....
Another aspect of
EdmontonHOST.com
was that it had to be built around honesty and
integrity. There's way too much sugar-coating
and straight out deceitfulness on the internet
these days, especially with web hosting
providers. We believe that honesty is the best
policy.
